Department Credit Risk Management
Unit Overseas Branch, reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer
Administratively to the CEO
JOB PURPOSE
The role holder is responsible for managing the overall framework of credit risk and recommendations on credit risk strategy, including leading, identifying, monitoring and analysing credit risk issues, overseeing risks identification, providing executive summary reports to Credit committee, executive committee and Board of Directors and recommendations to the senior management and supporting the implementation of credit risk related initiatives on an on-going basis.
Core Responsibilities
Credit Risk
Manages the credit portfolio for the bank, including regular portfolio analysis, review and
recommendation of changes in credit risk framework, strategy and credit risk appetite
statement, monitoring against set limits, pricing and security coverage and provisioning.
Leads the development, validation & use testing of credit risk models (CIIB, Commercial, SME &
retail banking).
Responsible for considering/recommending as considered appropriate the transition from the
standard approach for capital requirements for credit risk to internal ratings-based (IRB)
approach and IFRS9 compliance.
Maintains and develops the second line risk identification processes and early warning
indicators.
Responsible for Credit Risk Policy and Procedures and presentations of changes to all
stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance across the organization. Ensure updates
to Credit Risk Policy that are promulgated by the relevant overseas branch’s Central Bank
regulations.
Risk Monitoring and Analysis
Leads reviews, analysis and recommendations of credit transactionsfor new and renewed credit
proposals for Credit Committee, Executive Committee and Board of Directors, including credit
assessments, approval processes and documentation, as well as quality analyses.
Identifies weaknesses and proposes enhancements to improve risk assessment practices or
controls and identification of emerging risk issues.
Plans and oversees portfolio reviews to assess loan structure, quality and accuracy of
underwriting, identification of key risks, overall evaluation of the ultimate support of the credit
decision rendered, accuracy of assigned risk ratings and proper model usage and compliance
with established credit policies.
Shares best practices, common findings and risk matters with businesses/functions with the aim
to assist them in improving their capabilities in credit risk control activities and obligations and
to ensure a balance between business requirements and risk recommendations.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Fulfilment of all credit risk related regulatory responsibilities within the stipulated timelines
Fulfilment of all analyses and reporting responsibilities towards respective committees and senior management
Establishment and revamp of risk appetite framework as per bank’s strategy
Review and enhancement in credit risk analytics framework once every year
Review and enhancement in processes through bench-marking and automation as per stipulated timelines
Timely generation of Credit risk MIS
Successful coordination with Central Bank of Saudi Arabia as required
Implementation of credit risk policies and procedures
Adequacy of stress testing and provision reporting
Timely and quality of KRI reporting
